Stop.
Take a deep breath.
Engage your imagination for me in this brief moment.
You are in the deep woods of northern Michigan in the summer month of July. Thousands of stars clutter the night sky. The crickets chirp. The night is crisp; the air is cool. The summer is 2012. As you walk on a path through the woods, you come to a large cabin and hear the loud voice of a man speaking. Or better yet almost screaming. He pours out his heart to over one hundred junior high boys and their counselors. He begs, pleads with them from the depths of his soul to be men after God’s own heart.
I look at statistics in our country, and they are overwhelming. Some are calling today’s youth the first fatherless generation. I’ve seen their faces and have heard their stories. Young men telling me that their dad called them “worthless.” I heard a young girl share that her dad told her that “he didn’t want” her. My heart breaks.
But my heart doesn’t break so that I sit silently and feel sorry for them. No. My heart breaks so that I will rise up and be a voice. A representative.
Not one who shares my opinion from my own sinful and broken heart, but that of the Voice that is much deeper and more powerful than any voice ever known. That is the voice of God Almighty. The Creator of the earth. The Sustainer of the universe. The God who breathes stars out of his mouth that travel 186,282 miles per second. He can speak to us in any way He so desires, but has done so through His inspired Word. The Bible. I want to give this generation hope and that hope is only truly found in the Word of God.
To this generation, you are loved and adored by the King of the universe. How do I know? Because the Bible says so. It’s a promise from God, and He ALWAYS keeps His promises!
As the young man concludes his heartfelt plea, the camper’s silently stare at this man who has ripped out his heart and placed it on the table in front of them. But if they are not given a chance to respond, a chance to take ownership, it would only be words. So, the ambassador gives his challenge from Joshua chapter 24 and verse 15, “Choose this day whom you will serve…but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” The challenge is given. If this is what they want, a life of sacrifice for their Savior then they are challenged to stand. What I have seen with my own eyes are some of the most precious moments of my life. I see 12 and 13-year-old boys who stand up with their hands held high as tears flow from their cheeks. So genuine. So real. So raw. They are declaring to those around them that they will be men after God’s own heart, and they will stand upon God’s truth in a “crooked and perverse generation.”
After they declare their promise, they are given a red rubber bracelet that says “i have CHOSEN.” It’s a reminder to them that they from this point on will never be the same.
This website is here to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. To help bring healing and encouragement to those that hurt and to challenge those that have allowed the things of this earth to lull their hearts to sleep. The message of the gospel will be clear, the stories to inspire will be real, and the personality of the creator will be genuine. I invite you to be apart of my life and my journey. I am by no means perfect, but I claim the promises from the ONE who is!
And I will scream from a cabin in the woods or a mountain in the skies that “i have CHOSEN!”
Strength and honor,
