The Test of Time
Ya know what, I’m about to rant this morning. I’m tired of seeing romantic relationships built on the things that matter so little in life. Just because you think someone is physically attractive, they go to the gym, they have cool hair, a big smile, or are charming doesn’t mean a RIP!
Instead of spending so much time being infatuated with all the things that don’t last why don’t you start paying attention to the things that do. Like their character. Do they keep their word? Are they involved in their churches? Do they know their Bibles? Do you absolutely grill them with questions about the most important issues in life? How do they respond? Are they servants of others? Are they kind under stressful circumstances?
You could line up thousands of men and women in a row who have been hurt deeply by someone they had “romantic feelings” for and most would tell you to stop basing so much of your future relationship on physical attraction and deceitful charm and start getting to know who or what owns their hearts.
This doesn’t happen in a day or a week. It happens in a year or maybe even longer if that’s what it takes for you to entrust your heart to another person.
And by the way, if you want someone who has a heart of gold than you need to make sure you have one yourself. Are you the kind of person that the person you’re looking for is looking for? Put them through the fire and if they are the one for you, they’ll be the gold for which you were digging.
NEVER SETTLE. RAISE THE EXPECTATIONS. STOP COMPROMISING.
Rant finished. Godspeed.
